When: July 5 to July 11
Where: Hale Scout Reservation (Talihina, OK) -- Directions
This year Troop 410 has selected to go to the Camp Hale for our 2009 summer camp experience. The Troop will leave the morning of Sunday, July 5 and return in the afternoon on Sunday July 11. Camp Hale is a wonderful camp with good facilities located in Oklahoma near the Arkansas border in the Ouachita National Forest overlooking Bohannon Lake.
Summer camp is an important time for Scouts and adult Scouters. For new Scouts it gives an important introduction to scouting while giving concentrated time together to develop as a team. Few new Scouts succeed in scouting without attending their first summer camp. For older Scouts it is a time of fun and relaxation and a time to knock out needed merit badges. For adults, it’s a time to relax, learn more about the BSA program, bond with the Scouts and fellow Scouters, and attend adult trainings. Troop 410 always has a strong contingent of adults going to support the Scouts.
The Troop will automatically sign up new Scouts for the Path to Eagle program (aimed at helping new Scouts through their Tenderfoot, 1st and 2nd Class requirements) and the Swimming and First Aid merit badges. Older Scouts have a choice of which merit badges to sign up for at the April 8th meeting. Please have your older scout review the merit badge web page. He can sign up for up to 4 merit badges, two of which must be Eagle required (unless he has Scoutmaster approval). This will occur at the April 7 troop meeting.
Troop 410 is charging $255 per scout (three payments of $85) and $180 per adult (three payments of $60) going to the camp. This includes camp cost, transportation, and food. Some merit badges and adult training will require extra costs that we will pass through to you. And of course, we will collect extra money to "bank" for the Scouts to use in the camp store. We need the first payment by April 1. Of course, you can apply any monetary credits earned through fundraising to you camp expenses. Financial assistance is available.
